Our Race to Hell: Did Baltimore change our course or is it make believe?

A topic from chatter on Facebook from folks around the world.

Me:

Somewhat glad about the news out of Baltimore.
I am hesitant to be elated. I am hesitant to dance.

It remains that it should not have happened here or in any city.

Everyone, including Freddie, deserves their day in court. I hope these charges
don't get plea bargained out...stretched out until we forget and have little impact
on cities and townships around the country.

We have an opportunity to START to fix the bad here. Lets make sure it happens.

And it is difficult for us to focus on 2 things at once but let us not forget the tragedy that is
Nepal.

LA:

"While happy with the indictment, Freddy was just a spark that lit a a part of

vast pile of angry undergrowth the city is built upon. They need to clear out

dead wood or nothing will change. I've seen no evidence at all they are

actually addressing - or even recognizing - these systemic problems so

Baltimore and many other cities will remain a tinderbox just waiting for

 Whatever we are fed...http://tinyurl.com/n66p4c2

The Nederlands:

"Then you read this ....

The Baltimore police officers union sent a letter to Mosby Friday

asking for a special independent prosecutor to be appointed

for the investigation. The union argued none of the officers

suspended in the investigation is responsible for Gray's death."

Colorado, US

"It's a start; a wake-up call, if you will. (Hopefully)"
Me:

I am very concerned that the grain of this illness is so deep, so pervasive and widespread

that I have no clue what would have to be modified in order to affect real change. You are

talking of a change that would impact human nature at the core, change our corporate

responsibilities and every institution that services every blighted urban area.

This is not a kumbaya moment where we can have a community meeting with various

religious leaders and elected officials and expect any real change to emerge.

I hate to be crude but this will probably result in a good old fashioned,

placate the masses, feed the media, screw the poor, circle "period of self-stimulation".

I will add on to this conversation as it develops.

Some words of Annaliese

Every once and awhile, I see a piece of writing nestled between the cute kittens and piano babies that just seems to stand out.

I like it and with the poster's permission, I share it here. This is just such a piece that caught my eye this morning and kept bringing me back.

These words are by Annaliese Adderly of Largo Fla, They are strong, harsh true and seem to come from someone who knows the words of a Tom Waits song and the beat of Bukowski.
Thank you for the share.

As far as I know this is untitled.

Picked like a sore on a junkies skin
it eats at you
Scandalous as a pair of panties
stuffed between the leather seats of a rental car
It's that hangover, that makes you vow
I'll never do that again
It's an inner voice that stings your ear, like a racial slur
uttered from the lips of a Governor
Minds gritty as a rebel flag tattoo
found on every filthy Southerner
It makes you sick, like grain alcohol mixed with Flavor aid
stirred in a dirty bath tub
Infectious as that brass pole
in the middle of a two dollar strip club
It's on your back, like a cheap tee you got for free
for smoking ten cartons of cigarets
It's the night the lights went out in Georgia
the one you’ll always regret
It's those ten to one odds, Baby
but you're a gambler and you've placed your bets
Keep your fists up
them demons ain’t done with you yet

Unnamed by Derek von Helix

Every once in awhile, I find words people have chosen that strike a chord with me. With their permission, I ask to reprint them on my little blog.

There may be an image created, or a phrase seen from a different corner that catches my eye like when you walk through a gallery the first time or laze away an afternoon at a Vintage store to absorb all the little goodies someone has taken the time to share.

These words come from a few days ago. Derek von Helix (a warm heart cherished by the Evil F. Bunny and a Burner unbridled) shares these few words.

I love the changing of the seasons...

green leaves turning gold and orange

sunsets made longer by the grasping reach of a sun that still wants to play

the transition from playtime at festivals to creating one.

 THE one to create

for the sake of creation

Its that time of the year guys. Let the games begin! Bwaha

Thank you Derek for letting me share.

TL:DR Maybe this just happens to everyone on occasion and it is my turn.

Today is not a bad day.

I don't know if my planets are lined up or if my stars are in Leo or even what that means.

Even the kale and fresh fruits I laid out to make a power mush doesn't even look like it will work.

Today, when I see the picture of the beaver in a lounge chair with a wife standing over him saying "Not very eager...Are we?" I get it.

There are things, important things I should be doing and I can't seem to get off the mark. I have had my coffee, eaten my toast, flipped here and there, but motivation might as well be project to clean the garage or finally sort through that old mail that fell in the "I will deal with this later" pile rather than the trash.
Today. I need a little magic. Today maybe I need to be reminded that maybe it IS worth it and that progress beat stagnation.

Maybe I am overwhelmed by everything that surrounds me and maybe theredoes not seem to be a logical way out. When I chatted with everyone I passed at the store last night, the Evil F. Bunny said that I needed to get out more.

My circles are getting smaller. Stuff is closing in and my motivation to dig out seems like I have been given that 1/4 teaspoon in your cooking drawer that you never seemed to have used to begin the process of digging out.

Someone tell me they have felt this way, Someone tell me that even though the sun is shining, it doesn't MEAN anything other than it is shining.

Someone needs to tell me that this is how we feel now and then and like aches and indigestion and weak movie endings and friendships that just disappear, they all fade away and in the sceme of things, it will get better and not worse.

The bridge ahead looks shaky. I can't see through to the other side. But lackluster maybe better than no luster and I should just put one foot in front of the other and move ahead.

Today is not a bad day.

But I could do without it and even just going back to bed and sleeping through it doesn't seem like an answer.
Today, I wish I drank and I wish there was a bar nearby with Artists trying to sand off their caffeine and meth edge with glasses of cheap warm wine or more caffeine.

I'm going to click a little more and maybe I will find something...

Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Final Farewell letter

Dear Reader,

I was touched by this final letter from a great writer from South America. This writer filled the souls of all around him.

Enjoy and consider his final words:

Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Final Farewell letter !!!

The Puppet
If for a moment God would forget that I am a rag doll and give me a scrap of life, possibly I would not say everything that I think, but I would definitely think everything that I say.
...
I would value things not for how much they are worth but rather for what they mean.
I would sleep little, dream more. I know that for each minute that we close our eyes we lose sixty seconds of light.
I would walk when the others loiter; I would awaken when the others sleep.
I would listen when the others speak, and how I would enjoy a good chocolate ice cream.
If God would bestow on me a scrap of life, I would dress simply, I would throw myself flat under the sun, exposing not only my body but also my soul.
My God, if I had a heart, I would write my hatred on ice and wait for the sun to come out. With a dream of Van Gogh I would paint on the stars a poem by Benedetti, and a song by Serrat would be my serenade to the moon.
With my tears I would water the roses, to feel the pain of their thorns and the incarnated kiss of their petals...My God, if I only had a scrap of life...
I wouldn't let a single day go by without saying to people I love, that I love them.
I would convince each woman or man that they are my favorites and I would live in love with love.
I would prove to the men how mistaken they are in thinking that they no longer fall in love when they grow old--not knowing that they grow old when they stop falling in love. To a child I would give wings, but I would let him learn how to fly by himself. To the old I would teach that death comes not with old age but with forgetting. I have learned so much from you men....
I have learned that everybody wants to live at the top of the mountain without realizing that true happiness lies in the way we climb the slope.
I have learned that when a newborn first squeezes his father's finger in his tiny fist, he has caught him forever.
I have learned that a man only has the right to look down on another man when it is to help him to stand up. I have learned so many things from you, but in the end most of it will be no use because when they put me inside that suitcase, unfortunately I will be dying.
